About
Join our Youth Team as a Classroom Assistant! If you love empowering youth to do and be their best, then this is a great opportunity for you. Each Sunday, we offer engaging youth programs for ages 4-18, and on the first Wednesday of each month, we host a teen night. We are looking to grow our roster by an additional ten volunteers who will rotate as needed.
Classroom Assistants are asked to help the teacher by being an extra chaperone, helping with set up and clean up, and genuinely being there for the kids. We ask that all volunteers for our youth program submit to a background check and commit to at least one Sunday (or Teen Night) per month for the whole semester (approximately 4-5 times). Volunteers are asked to arrive at 9:45 AM and stay until 11:15 AM. Volunteers who are a good fit are invited to continue volunteering into the next semester if they are interested.
We work with youth, so this volunteer opportunity requires commitment and a few extra steps:
- Fill out the application form: Application Form Here
- An in-person interview at Unity in Greensboro (Sundays or Wednesdays)
- A background check (we'll arrange for this)
- Using our scheduling tool to pick your dates and trade with someone if necessary
- Showing up early the first time for additional training
But the benefits are worth it!
- Inspire the next generation
- Model the college experience for teens pursuing higher ed
- Snacks!
- Free homecooked lunch event once/semester
- Volunteer Appreciation Lunch once/semester
- Additional volunteer hours from events and our youth outreach/marketing team
- Additional training and events are available for returning volunteers (most choose to return next semester).
